Notes: Lots of fresh cherry and red fruit, a nice creamy texture that is complimented with a benne-like nuttiness. Benne is a local sesame heirloom

This Bourbon lot was thought to be a lost hope from Julia, thankfully she had a little left for us to grab. Approaching the roast, I wanted to highlight the importance of the variety. A long "soak" to slow the roast down and give the coffee time to get up to temperature was the name of the game. I have been playing around with smaller batch sizes and I have found that this coffee can be easily manipulated to achieve a nice filter roast, and a lovely espresso profile.

About the Madeira Family:

I met Julia Madeira a few years ago when her and her mother were getting ready to start their own exporting company. I was very happy to be an initial partner in the Savannah area, and am happy to be working with them again. Julia and her mother inherited [Julia's] late father's farm, with the goal of transitioning it from a commercial to a specialty coffee farm. In the few years of buying their coffee, each harvest is getting better and better.
